There's something so doting and gentle about the figure of Joseph cradling Christ in his arms; it reminds me of the prayer: Oh, St Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. This has been a bad few years for all of us, but this is a comforting reminder that we are cared for. God was humble enough to come to us as a Man, and He prepared Saint Joseph and His Blessed Mother to be His protectors on earth. St. Joseph was the man who best knew and protected Jesus from infancy - even before birth. He is a good man for us to trust and ask for prayer. This wee statue really does St.Joseph the protector justice.
